Employers and organisations depend on good relationships with clients, suppliers, investors, authorities etc. A government having a good relationship with its citizens is just one example of a situation where this is essential. Any employer or organisation can improve its relationships through well taken-care-of public relations (PR).

Public relations is not an ad-hoc activity that can be pulled like a rabbit from a hat to work magic every now and then when circumstance demands. A structured plan needs to be implemented in order to obtain and maintain that sought-after positive image. PR works by painting a positive picture of the business, organisation or person in general, which can then be added to by using it as a marketing instrument to promote the reputation of products and services.
